Buttercup's Out of School Care and Daisies Playgroup have been providing childcare to the Castlereagh area of Belfast since 2008

Buttercup’s Out of School Care Limited is a privately-owned after school club located in the Rosetta area in the grounds of St Andrew’s Church. It is registered with the Belfast Trust to provide after school care between 2pm and 6pm during the school term. We provide full wrap round care from 8am to 6pm during school holiday periods for up to 30 children, aged 4 to 11 years supporting schools in the local area.

The ethos of the group is to provide a nurturing environment which provides all of the activities children require to meet their physical, social and emotional needs. With an emphasis on enjoying the outdoors and getting out and about as much as possible.

Daisies

Daisies Playgroup is a privately-owned playgroup, registered with the Belfast Trust. It provides session-based childcare between 9.30am and 12.30pm during the school term, for up to 24 children aged 2 years 10 months to 4 years.

The Playgroup was previously called Buttercup’s Playgroup and has recently been renamed in 2015 as Daisies Playgroup to distinguish it from the after schools. It is owned by Fiona Mackie who is also owner/director of Buttercups Out of School Care. She has over 25 years experience working with children of all ages.

Daisies Playgroup @ St. Andrew’s is managed by Fiona is assisted by Erin McConnell who has completed her Level 5 in Playwork. Angela Neill and Sorcha Magee have both trained to level 3 in childcare and all staff have up to date training.

Fiona Mackie has over 25 years of experience working with children. Fiona is a qualified and experienced teacher with a Bachelor of Education (Hons) and Master of Education (Queens) and holds a level 5 diploma in leadership and management. She is fully trained in various areas including paediatric first aid, play work, project management, designated child protection, food safety & hygiene, fire safety, special needs and GDPR.
Pauline McCullough is a fully qualified classroom assistant in Lagan College and holds all relevant qualifications including an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare. Pauline has worked in Buttercup’s for the last 12 years and has over 30 years of experience caring for children.
The rest of the dedicated team consists of Rosemary Clarke, Sorcha Magee and Alana Bell who all hold the relevant childcare qualifications and up to date training.
Nutrition
We are inspected annually by Environmental health and we have a food hygiene rating of 5. Our fresh fruit and vegetables are locally sourced produce delivered on a weekly basis. At Buttercup’s and Daisies, we know how important good nutrition is for growing children. We provide a healthy, nutritious snack menu for the children taking in to account the daily requirements needed. We understand the importance of instilling healthy eating habits from an early age. So, in order to promote this we provide for your child:
  • Fresh fruit and vegetables everyday
  • Special dietary requirements and food allergies will always be catered for
  • No nuts are allowed on the premises
  • All staff are regularly trained in food safety
  • All foods served are low in salt and sugar
